And since my own digital camera no longer is compatible with modern computers (how's that for a milestone! ), I'm happy to see that he took it with the same iPhone I use. Maybe it's just that the standard five-inch 1911 is so ubiquitous but that's the length barrel that looks the best-balanced to me. Strictly an aesthetic view, of course; function comes before form in my opinion. Stu |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I agree. Craig takes good photos! Many pistols when altered from their long accepted standard length look odd to our eyes. But you've noted, correctly in my opinion as well, that both six- and seven-inch 1911s not only don't look odd, but look quite handsome. I like the seven inch model and would like one some day, but I actually prefer the six-inch slide. I might go as far as to say I think the full-size Government frame actually looks better with an elongated slide than it does with a truncated slide, as in the 4.25" Commander and the also popular 4" models as made by some companies. Of course this is clearly a blonde, brunette or redhead question. |
