Thanks Stu,
It is my 3rd 6” 1911, and it is a nice one too. Unfortunately it didn’t start out too nice. The thumb safety, as it arrived, was almost unusable. The casting (assuming it was MIM) was severely out of shape. It looked bent. It barely engaged the notch in the slide. See the pictures. It was wearing the factory stocks at that point. Kimber sent me another safety when I told them that I had fit several of them in the past. But it was another sub par part. I bought and fitted a Wilson Combat safety and it has been flawless. The trigger pull was pretty high for a “Target” gun, which is the model designation. It was gritty and was over 6 1/2 lbs. I polished the trigger bow, mating surfaces of the disconnector and installed a Cylinder and Slide “light” sear spring. It is very clean and crisp and breaks at 3.5 lbs! For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Nice photo of a handsome pistol, Craig, although the longer barrel does seem to unbalance it visually a bit. I see that Mark has given it Home Page prominence currently along with TJ's Javelina and Mark's own Rock Island - all long-nosed models! Stu Image below from Craig AA - Image Title: photos |
