I don't own a Police Positive, which is a smaller D-frame revolver, while the only Colt in my stable is a larger I-frame. The D-frame is a six-shooter larger than a J-frame but smaller than a K-frame, for you Smith-centric stypes. The I-frame is fairly close to the L-frame or GP100, but larger through the grip than an L-frame (which is identical to the K-frame in the back). The I-frame is what the Python was built on if that helps. I'm not really a fan of smaller-framed revolvers so although I like all the older Colts, I've never gone out of my way to acquire a D-frame, tempting as some of them have been--the military models, etc. I probably wouldn't pass up a deal, but deals a re rare these days, mostly because old Colts were built wonderfully well, and recent and current Colts not so much. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Property mark was my guess, too, but I had hoped you had a handle on it. I admit I thought that was your revolver. Anyone else here recognize that mark on the rearmost top corner of the frame? Image below from Mark Freburg - Image Title: Police Positive Stu |
