a 22 caliber bullet will be more prone to wind drift?<<< Bullets of any caliber with the same ballistic coefficient will have the same amount of wind drift. The 80 grain JLK=VD bullet that I shot had a B.C. of .51, close to the 173 gr. GI match loading, but velocity was 400+ FPS faster. Sierra has a 90 gr. 224 Matchking with a B.C. of .563. Haven't located a 308 close to that, probably a 200 gr. would be close, but the heavier Matchkings and Hornady would have a greater B.C. and would have a smaller wind drift if they have the same velocity. For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I would think for a 1000 yard rifle you would want a 7MM or 30 caliber bullet, a 22 caliber bullet will be more prone to wind drift? |
