Other than the Buffalo Bore hard cast the heaviest jacketed rounds I have ever seen are 240 grains

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: So you have a semi-jacketed load, that's definitely better than an FMJ.  The only downside is the 240gr weight, where something heavier would be better for larger animals.  I think it is probably fine for an eastern bear, however.
