I would say recoil and cost of ammo are two big factors. Also, it’s my understanding that the 10mm is especially punishing on the 1911 platform that was designed for the much softer recoiling .45 ACP. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Why didn't the 10MM "make it" as a commercial success? From what little I know it's way more effective than a 9MM or 45ACP?
