I checked Wilson's website and they offer two versions of their Shock-Buff system, one for GMs and one for Commanders. The system includes a full-length guide rod and plug, extra power recoil spring, reduced power recoil spring, extra power firing pin spring, and six Shok-Buff buffers.
Maybe the guide rod and plug are designed to work with the length of the spring in the kit? I'd rather skip the buffer and be able to choose exactly the spring power the gun works best with. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Allan: From Wilson: NOTE: SHOK-BUFF® buffers are recommended for full-size (5" barrel) 1911's only. Due to space constraints, we do not recommend their use in compact (less than 5" barrel) 1911's. I have been a Commander fan for many years and that's why I questioned your using it in your Commander. Unless you plan to put many, many thousands of rounds through the Commander, I wouldn't be overly concerned in trying to save the frame from battering. (Just my 2 cents.) Oh no! Please don't tell me what else ya got! (although it has been months since we've swapped guns...) OK, I won't tell you. Harvey |
