I checked Wilson's website and they offer two versions of their Shock-Buff system, one for GMs and one for Commanders. The system includes a full-length guide rod and plug, extra power recoil spring, reduced power recoil spring, extra power firing pin spring, and six Shok-Buff buffers.
Maybe the guide rod and plug are designed to work with the length of the spring in the kit? I'd rather skip the buffer and be able to choose exactly the spring power the gun works best with. I read some of the reviews on the Wilson site, and the "system" seems to work well, and the investment seems minimal. Like you, I think I'd prefer not using the buffer, but if you are really concerned about the frame battering, I'd try the "system" to see how that works out. Just my 2 cents. Harvey |
