| As I understand it, the Marines are removing sniping from basic infantry but will still have snipers in Recon and other SOF units. I think this is a huge mistake but it’s the kind of silliness you get when the military draws down after a war. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: The Marines just announced they are doing away with the Sniper platoons and shutting down the Scout Sniper school! Since forever the enemy knew if there were Marine sniper teams on the battlefield their lives were in imamate danger! Even a mile away they weren't safe and, they knew it so why, in God's name, are the Marines doing away with the teams? FYI, my grandson was his platoon's "long gun", using a semi auto M-14 with a scope that cost more than my car he could and would make you dead out to 1,000 yards and beyond!
