Guess if they get into a scrape and need those assets they'll just go steal them from the Army?
Probably not. If the new doctrine takes hold, USMC will not be tasked with conventional land warfare, i.e. taking and holding territory for the long term. They will be light infantry tasked with establishing beach heads or intercepting sea borne threats is the way I've been reading it. US Army will continue to be the "heavy" land branch of military service. But I do have my concerns about the timing of this when considering the military threats now present. Ukraine has become something out of the past -- a slug fest with heavy weapons by large forces over lots of geography. This isn't the Banana Wars or even Vietnam IMO. Harvey |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I remember the demise of the tank section, didn't know about the arty. Guess if they get into a scrape and need those assets they'll just go steal them from the Army? Wouldn't be the first time either if I remember correctly? |
