I suppose the military could have purchased AR10s, but that would have been stupid since they still possess M14s in inventory.
Knights Armament produced their version of the AR10 (SR-25) for use by SpecOps personnel. After some modifications, SOCOM adopted the SR-25 as the Mk 11 MOD 0. But we both know, SpecOps buy what they want, no matter what is in the normal US military inventory. They also adopted the FN SCAR, and I'm sure others. Harvey |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I would add that I don't know many people--hardly any, really, who love the AR10, while I've heard a ton of people say they love the M14/M1A. Since the AR10 really doesn't exist as a select fire rifle anymore, we are talking civilians. The M14 actually has also seen military use recently. It was used quite a bit as a DMR in the Middle East, primarily because of the deficiency of the 5.56mm at longer ranges. I suppose the military could have purchased AR10s, but that would have been stupid since they still possess M14s in inventory. |
