I think we're pretty much in agreement about the M14. It might have had a longer life span in the US military, but that was not meant to be because of Vietnam. I don't know if we agree about its suitability in full auto, but the US military made the decision to lock that capability out for most troops. That same military made the decision to replace a lot of weapons with just the M14, so as the Latinos say, quien sabe? As for the AR10, there are a lot of commercial versions of it today, but IIRC, only 2 countries adopted it for their militaries "back in the day", as it was originally produced for Armalite.
