I have not--I have only read one article. I admit I've gotten a bit jaded over the years because it seems nearly every handgun maker offers 1911s. I've gotten pretty picky about 1911s, but with so many options one can afford to pick and choose. Savage is offering 1911s with and without a rail, but it looks like all models will have the de rigueur double-sided safety locks, beavertails, Novak-esque sights, etc. So they are not breaking any new ground nor are they offering any basic guns for guys like me who prefer more basic 1911s. This seems similar to S&W's SW1911 E Series, which although being the least expensive 1911 line at around $1000-1100, still have most of the bells and whistles, including fish scale scallops. Not really to my tastes. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Have you had a chance to handle a Savage and if so, what did you think? I have not seen one yet but they seem to spec out decently. |
