Yeah, but for the greatest part of the first century of 1911s, almost no one but Colt made them, and the few who did only offered cheap "also ran" types, and went out of business quickly.
Remember when Smith & Wesson first came out with a 1911 and people were practically shocked? After that the floodgates opened. At least with ARs and Glock clones it seems a majority of them are high quality. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I admit I've gotten a bit jaded over the years because it seems nearly every handgun maker offers 1911s. Yup. 1911's, AR's and now glock clones. So they are not breaking any new ground Who is? I mean the design is 100 years old. rails and optic cuts are probably the newest things. |
