I think the Microgroove rifling works well - but only with jacketed or semi-jacketed bullets. I shot a great group with my 336, three shots forming a beautiful three-leaf clover at 100 yards! That was with commercial 200 grain hunting ammo; I never really reloaded for that caliber beyond some early experiments when I didn't know what I was doing.
I don't have direct experience with plain lead bullets in those rifles, but what I've heard is that the Microgroove rifling is too shallow to properly stabilize them without a jacket to bite into. Stu |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I have no experience comparing the Microgroove rifling against the Winchester--I only have experience with the standard rifling. The other guys can say better than me. |
