I've never considered FN 5.7 as much of a self defense caliber. That's what the radicalized lunatic doctor used to mass murder his fellow soldiers at Fort Hood in Texas and the investigators mentioned it was a good thing he didn't use a 9mm or .45ACP weapon as they were sure the body count would have been considerably higher.
The 5.7 ammo is also too expensive for me to plink with so I guess I don't really see a purpose for the caliber at all. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: It sure does make sense. I'm considering an M&P pistol in FN 5.7 as there truly is very little felt recoil and the gun feels pretty good in the hands. Not sure if this would ever replace, so much as supplement my 9MM and .380 guns but it's something to consider. Now, if a manufacturer could ever make a compact gun of some kind in 5.7 it's certainly something I would definitely consider. |
