I had not heard that the old Marlin employees were fired. I can't understand a move like that for any reason whatsoever. It bodes poorly for whomever bought them out.
My little lever gun is a Rossi copy of the Winchester 92. Rossi has been owned by Taurus for quite a few years now and the quality seems quite good on this rifle. I certainly could recommend it to someone wanting its features for not much money. P.S. Nice PG word play. We'll let it stand. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: As an aside, a local gun shop got in two brand new Marlin lever guns and sent them both back. They said that since Marlin was bought out and all their people let go the quality of the guns has gone straight downhill. Both of the guns received looked like the stocks were checkered and the guns assembled by a two-year-old and when you looked down the barrel of one rifle there were smooth spots on the right and left sides of the bore about halfway down that had no rifling (it was a conventionally-rifled barrel not a Micro-Groove model). The shop will not be ordering any more of them until the "new" Marlin company gets its feces consolidated. |
