I believe that Marlin was bought by Remington in 2007 and became part of the Freedom Group. I have only the gun shop's word that they recently moved production and let go the original work force. It is likely though since Marlin was in New Haven, CT, and Marlin firearms manufacturing was moved to Remington's Kentucky and New York manufacturing facilities after the sale. Now Remington is streamlining and consolidating manufacturing so who knows what is happening. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I had not heard that the old Marlin employees were fired. I can't understand a move like that for any reason whatsoever. It bodes poorly for whomever bought them out. My little lever gun is a Rossi copy of the Winchester 92. Rossi has been owned by Taurus for quite a few years now and the quality seems quite good on this rifle. I certainly could recommend it to someone wanting its features for not much money. P.S. Nice PG word play. We'll let it stand. |
