That was Army doctrine, not Air Force. When I went out, we were given very little familiarization as to most of the basics. It was '57at Lackland AFB, and I don't remember that we shot the three positions. Rifles were drawn at the range, and we probably were told where the safety was, and to keep the loaded mag out of it until ready to fire.

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: for troops that had never held a rifle it was a start. first was snapping in, a study in breath control and finger pressure. also in positions and getting into the correctly. use of the sling and how to get it tight enough. for this there was no need to ty up the kd range |
