I recently read the book. It is about Col. George's experiences on Guadalcanal, then later he added a second half about his experiences with Merrell's Marauder's in Burma. While it is about war with the Japanese, his emphasis is strongly on rifles and shooting. It is a gun book for shooters, and he makes no bones about that! If you don't find a hard copy, it is available as a Kindle book for literally only a few dollars.

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I couldn't agree with your post or the good Colonel more. 900 inches (25 yds) is my standard for pistols....50 yds for target pistols. Even my carry pistols do reasonably well at 25 yds, altho I start them at 50 ft. I shoot them from rest until I find the ammo that they like, then practice with them the way I learned here, but alas, not to the extent that I should. I'll hafta look for the Colonel's book. Sounds like my kinda guy. HGW |
