To that end I'm not a fan of Cyd Charisse--not terribly attractive to my eye, never liked her hairstyle either--
As is frequently the case, our mileage does differ here. It's the face that is MOST important and the face that keeps everything else in perspective. To agree, may I point out Ann Miller? She was cute in her early black-and-white movies but maturity and Technicolor did her a great disservice - she ended up,to my eye, a chipmunk-cheeked, overly made up example of your point but she certainly could dance and had those long dancer's legs... For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: You note something important here, however, all the parts have to work together, and the nicest legs in the world and a so-so face make for no interest on my part. It's the face that is MOST important and the face that keeps everything else in perspective. To that end I'm not a fan of Cyd Charisse--not terribly attractive to my eye, never liked her hairstyle either--though she had the misfortune to be born int an era where women's hairstyles were among the worst, the 50s and 60s. Great dancer, sure, but so was Fred Astaire. That's not enough. |
