I understand about the muscular calves. It is amazing to me how good Charisse and Miller's legs look despite their dancing prowess. I've seen plenty of dancers who just can't hide the muscle but they tend to be shorter, I think. Maybe it's the long-legged thing that makes the legs look so smooth ad graceful (and - as you said - the distance).

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Agree on Ann Miller. I'm actually not a huge fan of dancer's legs. I dated and even lived with a dancer on and off for five years (she was a bit volatile, thus the "off") early in my life. While she was very shapely, she had dancers legs. They looked great from the third row, but up close you could see the muscle development that distance and tights hid. I don't love the muscular calves all good dancers must have. I think if you got up close and personal with one you might agree with me. |
