My understanding is the Navy serves beans at every meal, a tradition going waaaaay back, think that's where the term "Navy Beans" came from, they will keep forever if kept dry. Considered a great source of fiber and protean. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I'm getting a headache imagining it. I might add that the cuisine was not up to cruise ship standards. Corn bread and baked beans for breakfast is not the fuel for Super Marines! That old GI song of "the Navy gets the gravy while the Army gets the beans" was very inaccurate! Harvey |
