| My understanding is the Navy serves beans at every meal, a tradition going waaaaay back, think that's where the term "Navy Beans" came from, they will keep forever if kept dry. Considered a great source of fiber and protean. | ||||||

That old GI song of "the Navy gets the gravy while the Army gets the beans" was very inaccurate!
