Tried to explain at Christmas dinner (Prime Rib & Honey Ham) that SOS was NOT chipped dried beef (very expensive) but rather hamburger in a cream sauce.....best part was the 1/2 inch of yellow grease floating on top of the pot! Was your SOS any different? | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I ran into that corn bread and baked beans breakfast the first time when I was going through Basic Airman School at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Florida. Separately, I like both, but not together at 7 a.m. Of course that was in 1956, and I imagine meal things have changed for the better since then. But hopefully, the services are still serving SOS. Any of you other vets have some mystery or unusual food stories? Harvey |
