Yep--and since they made an actual carbine for military issue, many were used as-is, didn't even need cutting down to hunt with.

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Back in my younger days I can remember old timers using these to hunt deer, the caliber was 30-40 Kraig if I'm not mistaken?
