I suspect I found this photo on the web, and the source likely did not say.  I would hazard a guess the 1940 model wears something made of some sort of polymer.

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I can't help but wonder what the stocks are made of on the 1940 model? Do you know what it is? Pretty exotic looking to me.
