If I were ever to want an M16, What's that old saying -- "when pigs fly". Though even the forward assist on the A1 would be foreign to me.. With all the brands and variations of AR15s I have had over the years, I don't believe I have ever used the forward assist. I don't even know if they were functional 'cause I never even pushed one to see if it moved! Harvey |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I will readily admit the round handguards are more ergonomic than the triangular handguards, but the triangular ones are more nostalgic for me. When I was in the Air Force we didn't even have the A1, I carried an M16 my entire enlistment. The AF went directly from the M16 to the A2 in the the early to mid-80s. If I were ever to want an M16, I'd probably go with an M16 style, A1 at most, for that reason. Though even the forward assist on the A1 would be foreign to me...
