My Contender rifle in 17 Mach4 did very well with a Lilja barrel. It shot sub moa. I then bought a T/C barrel in 22 Hornet that shot miserably, and got rid of it. HGW |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I had a "good acquaintance" at my club about 20 years ago who was still big into metallic silhouette and he shot T/Cs religiously, but of his large collection, I don't think a single one had a factory barrel. That suggests to me that you are spot on about the barrels. And your and Herb's shooting of the Bulberry certainly adds evidence on your behalf. I always wanted a T/C myself, early on a Contender carbine, then later an Encore when they came out, but I now it seems a custom barrel would be the way to go if really good groupability is desired. |
