My understanding is the Navy serves beans at every meal, a tradition going waaaaay back
I don't know if that's true or not, especially these days when the Armed Forces are far more serious about nutrition. TTBOMK, Navy Beans due owe their name to US Navy use, and are a specific type and size of bean. Most canned or cooked "baked beans" use the Navy Bean. Dried beans make great survival foods. Harvey |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: My understanding is the Navy serves beans at every meal, a tradition going waaaaay back, think that's where the term "Navy Beans" came from, they will keep forever if kept dry. Considered a great source of fiber and protean. |
