The only issue I really had with the concept of the 9MM revolver was the stickiness of extraction. My 940 Smith and Wesson almost refused to extract the brass, the Taurus 905 wasn't much better and my Ruger SP101 was OK with a very firm spank on the extractor star. The one I had the best experience with was the Ruger LCR in 9MM and that still stuck about 1/3 of the time. Of course, the ultimate definition of the optimist is one that carries a reload for a J-Frame. Maybe I was overthinking it. Still, I like the ability to refill a gun if necessary and the 9MM revolvers for me just weren't able to meet that requirement. I've found that the .40 S&W cartridge, 10MM Cartridge and .45 ACP Cartridges with moon clips are a game changer. But, there's almost no need for these platforms at all as any semi-auto pistol is lighter, more compact, and has in most cases, close to triple the capacity. |
