It's been my experience over the years that usually a revolver chambered for the actual round being used is more accurate than the revolver with the long chamber that requires the bullet to make a long jump to the forcing cone. And while this is not always true, it is true that if you fire a lot of Specials in a Magnum revolver, eventually the forward part of the chambers will get so dirty that it will be difficult to chamber actual Magnum rounds when you want to fire the the longer rounds the gun was actually made to shoot. Unless you like cleaning revolvers, this can be avoided by owning revolvers chambered for the actual cartridge you want to shoot. This s why I also own a.38 Special, and never shoot those rounds in my .357 Magnums. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I have never understood why anybody would buy a 44 Special when a 44 Magnum will fire the special ammo?????
