Contrarian that I am, I shot a lot of soft lead .38 target ammo out of my customized .357 PPC revolver. I found no real difficulty in cleaning the ridge out of the cylinders; just used a worn-down .45 brush as a chamber brush. My later .38 PPC revolver got the same cleaning ritual with no real difference in result.
The only real concern, to me, is using both ammos in the gun during the same session. So long as the gun is cleaned after firing the shorter cartridge, it means nothing. Stu |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I've found the same thing to be true that Mark mentioned. I saw it while shooting .38 Specials in .357 Magnum revolvers and shooting the much more pleasant .44 Specials in .44 Magnum revolvers. I don't own any .44 Magnum revolvers anymore but I do have separate .38 Special and .357 Magnum revolvers. I'm now set up to load .357 Magnum brass to .38 Special specs to make things easier on myself. |
